Why the ATR ZigZag Bollinger Bands Indicator Fails as a Predictive Tool
As reported by MQL5's product page, the new "ATR ZigZag with Bollinger Bands Pro Pips Predict" indicator for MetaTrader 5 repaints when you change timeframes.

That's the vendor's own admission, and it's the only thing that matters before you spend anything on the download.
What the code actually does
The tool fuses three components: an ATR-derived ZigZag for structure, standard Bollinger Bands for volatility channels, and a forward projection that estimates the next leg in pips. BUY arrows print after trough formation and SELL arrows after peak formation. You're entering after the reversal leg has already carved out — by definition a lagging protocol. The vendor flags that signals come with delay, that ATR period miscalibration produces false signals, and that the indicator may repaint when changing timeframes. A signal that rewrites itself retroactively when you toggle M15 to H1 isn't a signal. It's a curve fitted to the chart you've already rendered. The anti-flicker filter sounds like noise reduction but functions as confirmation lag — it suppresses whipsaws at the cost of missing the initial impulse on real breakouts.
Stacking ZigZag and Bollinger Bands in one panel doesn't manufacture edge. Both read from the same price series with overlapping window logic. You get two correlated views of the same variance, not independent confluence. The adaptive ATR multiplier — automatic adjustment across M1 scalping through MN1 position trading — is the second concern. Adaptive parameters lag the volatility regime they purport to track. During regime shifts, which is exactly when predictive tools either pay off or detonate, the adaptation is still anchored to yesterday's distribution.
Live context: the Nasdaq squeeze
Bollinger Band behavior is worth watching in real time. FXStreet reports the Nasdaq 100 sitting in a squeeze near 30,195, with the bands contracted and a close above that level favoring bulls, a break below the lower band favoring bears. A squeeze is volatility compression, not directional conviction. The highest-probability outcome from any Bollinger contraction I've measured since 2010 isn't the breakout — it's another 20 to 40 sessions of mean-reverting grind before expansion actually fires.
How I'd actually test this
Run it on EURUSD and XAUUSD at M15 and H1 with a fixed ATR period. Record entries at signal bar close, exits at 1:1 and 2:1 R:R, and measure expectancy across at least 500 trades per symbol. If the projected pip direction hits above 50% within the projected magnitude, you have a marginal edge worth fractional sizing. Below that threshold, you've purchased chart cosmetics.
